Year of 2012 is a year of Water Dragon with Yang Water element () sit on top of a Yang Earth element (). It commences on 4th February 2012 @ 18:24 p.m. What kind of relationship between Water and Earth? Earth controls Water. Yang Water () here is symbolized by an ocean, and Dragon is a Water Storage, so in this year, we can expect a water drive force that probably can cause big waves like tsunami because of earth movement or earthquake, or it can be a snowfall.  Yang Water also represents intelligence, wisdom, with this we can expect year of 2012 will be full of progress unless its use in negative ways.

Why do we call Dragon as a Water Storage? Because Hidden Stem of Dragon is (Yang Earth) (Yin Wood - Graveyard) (Yin Water - Storage). Yang Water also symbolizes great movement, so I think we can expect there will a big change or movement in every aspect of life. Dragon is a Yang Earth which is symbolize by Mountain, Mountain can block or stop the Water, so although there is a movement or change, but there will be some part of it that is blocking the movement too. The effect is not so strong because the blocking is coming from below (branches).

The Chinese year calendar goes on 60-year cycle, which means we share the same experience as the year of 1952. Year of 1952 is also a year of Yang Water element sit on top of Yang Earth element. If you still remember, on November 4, 1952 at 16:52 GMT, there is a great tsunami triggered by earthquake with 8.25 Richter scale at Kamchatka Peninsula which causes severe damage throughout the Pacific. In this year of 1952 also we note that there is a case of 58,000 of polio which in the end cause mild to disabling paralysis (movement blocked), and in the year of 1832, there is a spread of cholera in London to France and North America which cause at least 3,000 victims (water disease).

In the year of Dragon, the bad energy called “Five Yellow” – symbolizing obstacles and misfortune arrives at the South East. If your entrance of your house or bedroom located in the South East sector, it is recommended to hang a metal wind chime to dissolve this bad energy. The worst months will be in April 2012, October 2012, and January 2013. Another bad star 2 symbolizing Sickness will arrive in North sector in 2012. The traditional method to dissolve this bad star 2 is to hang a string of six metal coins in the affected area.

Year of 2012 is a year in between of the year period from 2004 to 2024 which is called “Age of 8”. Number 8 symbolize young children. Since stepping into 2004, there seems to be more disaster and misfortune affecting children. These number 8 representing children are always present in the centre of the flying star chart in these 20 years from 2004 to 2024. In year 2012, the year star 6 is in centre which is metal and is weakening the earth star 8, so pay attention for those who have small children in house because they are prone to lung or breathing organ and head or brain problem.

Year of 2012 will prosper Wood and Earth industry sector. Wood Industry like fashion, flower shop, furniture, paper industry, school sector, art and culture, plantation, event organizer and modelling sector, agriculture, printing industry, will prosper. Earth industry like mining, construction industry, real estate, property, columbarium, although will prosper in this year, unfortunately they will also face competitor. Fire is absent in the year of 2012 and because fire element is regarded as the driving force behind the stock market, so this year the stock market is not a good year for stock market investment. Another thing is represent Mountain which symbolize contemplation, so for you who are keen in investment in stock, please refrain yourself in this year especially in the second half of 2012.

The unfavourable industries in 2012 are water and fire. Water’s money element is fire, and there is total absent of fire in the year of Dragon 2012. Water industries like trading, fast moving good consumer, transportation, tourism, shipping, cold storage, communication, drinks, will face setbacks this year. Metal industries which includes automobile industry, metallurgy, metal furniture, metal and gold ornament, aeroplane industry, jobs that require using mouth like lawyer, judge, and human resource this year will be a very productive year because metal produce water, but unfortunately it is also not profitable because it need to see wood (absent in the year of 2012) as money element.

The Grand Duke (Tai Shui) of this year is in South East 1 (127.5⁰ - 142.5⁰); hence it is not suitable to do any substantial construction work in this area for the year 2012. Year Breaker (Sui Po) of this year is NW1 (292.5⁰ - 307.5⁰). Three Killings (San Sha) is located in 142.5⁰ – 187.5⁰. Do not sit against the Three Killings unfavourable energy.

What is Feng Shui? Print

Chinese ancestors aware of the existence of the life or natural forces which is called “氣 [qi]”. They believe that this “qi” flows around us and influences the prosperity and harmony of the human lives. By manipulating this energy, we can enhance our career, relationship, health and even our business. This is what feng shui is all about – an ancient art which deals with the placement of buildings or other objects to accentuate the auspicious positive energies and to minimize those which are negative. This knowledge has been shaped through several centuries, but its principles are still relevant today.

Authentic Feng Shui Asia

The term feng shui literally means “wind 風 [feng] and water 水 [shui].” This knowledge originated at least 4,000 years ago. This knowledge expanded from the accumulated experience and observation of primitive people in finding a good living space which is safe from severe weather and convenient in obtaining food and water, up to study of more abstract things like the stars and time influence, and the directions of a living place.

Feng shui was first called as “Kan Yu” – meaning observing the heaven and earth. This practice is common used by the Chinese ancestors in selecting a living place or palace as well as selecting a good place for burying. A lot of feng shui masters were key advisors to the emperor for so many generations to maintain their power and reign.

Feng shui practice has gained booming interest in the Western world lately, and because of that, many people are easily confused or misled by numerous schools of feng shui practice. That is why it is difficult to find a truly traditional and authentic form of Chinese Feng Shui master nowadays.

Feng shui is a science of the environment that helps us to tap and manage the energies in our surrounding to enhance our prosperity and harmony. We call feng shui as a “science” because actually the authentic feng shui or classical feng shui can be explained by logic and sound principles. The science’s roots are traceable to the I-Ching (the book of Changes).

Cosmic Trinity in Feng Shui

Inside feng shui theory, there is a concept of what they called as the Cosmic Trinity (that explain the influenced of three lucks: Heaven 天 [tian], Earth 地 [di] and Man 人 [ren] on human lives). Heaven Luck can be explained in an easy term “destiny” or “Heaven’s will”. It is something given and we don’t have the power to make a choice, like for example the date and place of birth, our innate characters, our parents, our countries. In order to optimizing this Heaven Luck, we pray.

Man Luck is the human aspects which include our hard work, formal or informal education, perseverance, management and so forth. We can control this aspect which depends on our decision in our lives. We can utilize further informal educational training as for an example to improve our Man Luck.

Earth Luck is where Feng Shui comes in. We frequently forget about this aspect. By utilizing the qi of our environment, we can promote prosperity, vitality and harmony of our lives. Our lives will become comprehensive if we optimize these three aspects of Luck.

The first important literature on formal feng shui practice is considered to be “The Book of Burial”. This book is about picking the best landscape to bury ancestors for long term prosperity of future generations. There is an important sentence in this book: “The energy of the dragon will be dispersed by wind, and will stop at the boundary of water.” It is believed that the term Feng Shui is originated from this sentence.

2 Main Areas of Feng Shui Studies

There are 2 main categories of feng shui studies used when evaluating the feng shui of a place, "Form School" and "Compass School". "Form School" refers to the form and shape in the environment (mountain, pond, tree, table, furniture). "Compass School" refers to the flow, qualities, direction, and influence of the natural forces or "qi". As the natural forces associate with time and space, compass school also count this factor in when evaluating the feng shui of a place. These 2 main categories can be compared to the hardware and software in computer science.

2 Classical Systems of Authentic Feng Shui
There are 2 classical systems of Authentic Feng Shui: Three Harmony 三合 [San He] and Three Period 三元 [San Yuan]. Each of this school has different Lo Pan design. Lo Pan is a compass for measuring directions. San He deals with landforms, to simplify it, it relates to most form on environment, be it man made or natural. It is all base on environmental factors. San Yuan deals with the aspect of time. In a Feng Shui's view, the influence of an environment runs in 20-year cycles and after the time has passed, the energies in the environment will expire.

San He and San Yuan are mainly for Yin house (grave) and for Yang house (living place); genuine feng shui practitioners use "Eight Mansions 八宅 風水 [Ba Zhai]" or "Xuan Kong Flying Stars 玄空 飛星 風水 [Xuan Kong Fei Xing]" in conjunction with inspecting the forms of the site (San He). Some even practice all these three systems.
